More than 10 years on since 911, and decades since the study of Business Continuity Management, BCM is on the verge of the changing mindset amongst practitioners and stakeholders. A recent Swiss Re study reveals that disasters in 2010 costs the world USD 218 Billion in economic lost, more than twice the losses in 2009. The recent disasters in Japan alone would cost more than USD 300 Billion to rebuilt. According to a study by Allianz insurance claims will drastically rise and continue to rise.
With the continued trend of globalisation and regionalisation of economic drivers such as corporations, crisis and disasters in any dependent hubs would have a distributed and repercussion impact on risks and strategies. As companies are struggling to recover from the impact from the Japanese Disasters, concentration of global manufacturing facility in Thailand is submerged due to major floods, disrupting critical supplies to global manufacturers.
The evolution of the BCM Mindset is needed to understand this changing paradigm and ensure stakeholder interest in the continuity of their organisations is met. With experts from around the globe, this congress addresses this needs through case studies and practice review.
